I was up early at 3.30 to tidy up the car and make sure the radiator was soundly strapped in. Fuel was due to be available at 6am 5minuts up the road. We had all been cleaned up for fuel in ….and then in marsabit
After the crash in Greece the original radiator had twisted with the frame
When a new one was positioned it couldn’t be bent to suit the fixings s I’d had to strap it in, but in our rush yesterday we had decided no t enstall the electric fan
So in wen the fan, wired up, but the fan wouldn’t run. So off it came to provide the best airflow we could get for the days trip
A good breakfast then off early to get at the front of the fuel que, and then off disregarding any comp rules. We just needed to get to Nairobi to do some repairs
Well, the road we met was much worse than the day before.
118Km’s to the bitumen took us 7.5 hours, finally getting to the hotel at 9.30 pm. A dreadful day
We had to stop to let the car cool a few times as we couldn’t get enough speed up, we stopped with some French guys for a quick lunch under the only tree we found
We saw some amazing people and met a young guy and his wife with a near new baby, out in the middle of now where in the heat. The girl was gorgeous dressed up in all her gear
We passed two young men all dressed up marching down the centre of the road either going off too woke someone off, or I reckoned on a hot date
We mde the hotel in Nairobi At 9pm. We had a tow truck organized to take the car off to a Mercedes dealer actors the other side of town,a 2 hour trip in the day tie. The mb dealer was not sure he cold get the parts. When we pulled into the hotel their was a service crew set up who were Alll rally guys . They had a look at the car and all the issues and will be on the job tomorrow
