We have been at Brooklands race track the last few days, making important last minute preparations like buying new CDs for the trip and driving around the Mercedes test track! Yesterday was the first official rally event, we had a lecture on navigation and a short 7 checkpoint navigation exercise. Dad and I only managed a poor 4/7 in the rainy back streets of Newbridge, we got hopelessly lost and decided to just head home ( which was another navigational disaster, a trip that took 1 hour 45 minutes instead of thirty!)
However, tomorrow the important navigation begins, we depart Brooklands at 4 pm and drive to big Ben for the official start at 7 pm, then an over night race to Dover. This will see us racing through several small villages and two forests, then on the ferry to Calais France. These next two days should be the most testing navigation and most hours behind the wheel, so a difficult stage straight away!
Today bobby drove a four-wheel drive on the Mercedes test track, he slid out in the mud, got the car on two-wheels over moguls and had a great time!
